Coinciding with World Earth Day, the second seminar of the Montclima project will take place on Thursday 22nd April from 9h30 to 13h, entirely online. This event, hosted by the Comunidade Intermunicipal de Região de Leiria (CIMRL) in Portugal will be dedicated to the management and prevention of forest fires in Southwest Europe.
Thirty people took part on Wednesday 24 February in the launch meeting of the new LIFE Technical Assistance project led by the Pyrenees Working Community, through the Pyrenees Climate Change Observatory: "LIFE TA-CC PIRINEES, towards a more climate-resilient Pyrenean mountain area".
At the start of the new year, the Iberian Peninsula and the south of France were hit by an extraordinary storm of cold and snow, unprecedented in some territories. Heavy snowfalls, with accumulations of more than 50 cm of snow in two days, have kept much of the centre and east of the peninsula as well as the south of France on alert for this extreme weather event.
From the OPCC we would like to welcome 2021 by highlighting the cycle of web seminars on Pyrenean Thursdays (#JUEVESPIRENAICOS). Through six thematic webinars led by the thematic experts of the OPCC's network of scientists, we were able to delve deeper into the effects of climate change in this particularly vulnerable bioregion.
